Emerging Technology + Digital Storefront

An exploration of 3D and 2D printing became a material that became a product, then a digital storefront and small business.

I looked to take in Scandinavian design principles and aesthetics as I experimented with various materials and design methods and tools. This was a first push at creating a unique experience across digital and non digital touchpoints.

I love to create a multifaceted design and product experiences, using digital as a mechanism to deliver more.

Material Design

Material Design

The wood composite material is a deriviative of 2d printed slabs of very thin exotic wood variations. The slabs are condensed to create a uniform linear texture. The aesthetic result of the composite is one that is both natural and supernatural. The composite is then imprinted on in conformed geometric patterns

Construction

Metals were prepared separately and set into the geometric pieces. What ended up materializing was a method that involved dual passes through a 2D printer.  First, creating a composite texture and then imprinting the design on that texture.

Package

I looked at different materials for packaging including cardboard but settled on the tins.  The felt is used for the setting and continues along the line of the natural aesthetic.

Digital Storefront

The storefront was a impactful way to sell these pieces. I worked with a photographer to communicate the art direction and to get high quality images. I designed a few versions and tested with friends and family to choose a final direction.
